My name is Barbie and I am 46 years old.

I found my calling when I entered the world of animal rescue, or so I thought.

I have come to realize that my calling is to speak for the voiceless, whether it is elder care abuse and neglect, children of abuse and neglect or abused and abandoned animals.

America is in the midst of experiencing a “gray tsunami.”  People over 85 are the fastest growing segment of the population in the United States; this is also the segment most vulnerable to abuse and neglect. The abuse can be financial, physical, emotional and sexual, and can also include neglect. The number of abuse victims has been rising steadily over the past decade and the rise is expected to continue.

Reports of infanticide, mutilation, abandonment and other forms of physical and sexual violence against children are widespread. Child abuse is a global problem that is deeply rooted in cultural, economic and social practices.
